BwCF Welcomes New Executive Director and Chief Academic Officer |

(NEW YORK, NY) - The Board of Directors of Beginning with Children Foundation (BwCF) is excited to announce the appointment of George W. Flowers as the organization's Executive Director and Denniston M. Reid as its Chief Academic Officer.
George W. Flowers comes to BwCF with extensive leadership skills and an exemplary legal background. A graduate of the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton and Harvard Law School, he was most recently a Senior Counsel at Merck & Co., Inc. where he chaired the Global Law Department Diversity Committee. His legal career started at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, where he was a Corporate Associate. George previously served his country as an artillery officer in the United States Marine Corps. George is a resident of Brooklyn, where his family has extensive roots. He has been active in the community as a student mentor through BwCF and other organizations including Legal Outreach.
Denniston M. Reid, Jr. brings over 16 years of educational experience to his new role at BwCF, most recently serving as the principal of one of the highest performing elementary schools in New York City. He was previously a founding teacher at Bronx Preparatory Charter School and also worked as a coach and mentor for educators and administrators at New Visions for Public Schools. Denniston was a Teach for America corps member after graduating from Colgate University with a BA in Education and Political Science. He has a MA in Politics and Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
"With the charter cap recently lifted in New York State, George and Denniston are joining BwCF at a very exciting time," said BwCF Board Chairman, Kevin D. White. "Their combined leadership, experience, and academic success will help our schools exceed their standards of excellence, and will ensure our children receive the quality public education they deserve."
