Students Learn About Recycling with the Paper Bag Players PDF Print E-mail

Fifty BwCCS kindergarteners learned about recycling in a new and interesting way by attending "The Paper Bag Players Mummy Adventure" performance at the LaGuardia Performing Arts Center on February 12, 2010.

In the hour-long play, students went on an adventure through Ancient Egypt that showcased mummies, tombs and treasure maps, all made out of recycled paper goods. "As part of our lesson on recycling, we wanted to show the students that there are many uses for recycled goods," said BwCCS Kindergarten assistant teacher Lillian Benejan. "I think the students really enjoyed the play, and now they see that recycling can be something fun!"

Since 1958, The Paper Bag Players Company has performed original, contemporary musical theatre for children, ages four through nine, using painted and decorated common household objects, cardboard boxes and brown paper as their sets, props and costumes.
