BwCCS Kids Care Club Members “Grow Involved” On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day |

BwCCS’s Kids Care Club recently joined with hundreds of other NYC children for a day of service at “Grow Involved on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.”
BwCCS fourth and fifth grade students, Amanda Marmolejos, Tyler Hector, Rebecca Rosado and Scarlett Roldan, accompanied by teachers Shohba Narine and Madeleine Meade-Harvey, spent their day off from school participating in various service projects.
The students made fleece scarves and toiletry kits for the homeless, key chains for the elderly, and picture frames for kids at Ronald McDonald House and wrote letters of encouragement to the children of Haiti who survived the recent catastrophic earthquake.
Students also wrote on a wall of reflection to express how they felt about Martin Luther King, Jr.’s life and work. “I like volunteering because when you volunteer you think about others instead of thinking about yourself,” said Amanda. Tyler agreed, commenting, “When you help people who need help it is very rewarding.”
Martin Luther King, Jr. High School in Harlem hosted the 8th annual event, which was sponsored by Children for Children and the Citi Foundation.
