What is family for?

Graduating from Beginning With Children is like leaving your family for the first time, but the alumni agree that whenever there is something they need help with after BWC, everyone is willing to help just like a family. Coming back to BWC is something that no one ever is afraid to do and the alumni often come back to visit, volunteer, or speak about their experiences. Recently that is just what they did. Some older alumni chatted with younger alumni about their college experiences and how things were going in their lives.

Yarelis Carrion:2nd graduating class

"Coming from an all-girls high school was a huge adjustment." This is what Yarelis Carrion said as I asked her questions about life in college. She currently attends Queens College as a Psychology major. She spoke about the diversity in the campus and how it's different from the hectic and large city of Manhattan. "I'm not surrounded by large buildings, and Queens College has lots of outdoor events." She lives at home with her parents and drives to school. She wanted to share two main things with us: "Choose your schedules right away, and go to ratemyprofessor.com before you pick your courses."

Chloe Sanchez(left): 2nd Graduating class

Chloe Sanchez is currently a student at St. John's University. One thing that she said about college is that "it's really expensive." She explained that it is very important to "stick to deadlines," especially for financial aid. The later you wait, the less money you get. She also said that once you get your schedule from college, make sure it's CORRECT because you don't want to end up in the wrong class.

College is a big step in life, and thanks to Beginning with Children we the alumni don't have to go through it alone.
