MISSION

Mission: To ensure that the individualized attention and encouragement every child receives at BwCCS remains available to them as they grow into young adults and encounter new challenges. The alumni program provides BwCCS graduates, parents, and middle school students with academic, social and personal support to enhance their high school and post high school experiences.

WHAT WE DO

To address the needs of our Middle School students, the Alumni Program, in partnership with the Middle School staff, works to support students with academic endeavors, high school selection strategies and social development skills. Middle School students are provided with academic tutoring, test preparation for the specialized high schools/art schools examinations, and personal advising on the selection of appropriate high schools.

Alumni in high school are provided with academic advising, goal assessment strategies, tutoring and social & emotional support systems. Intensive PSAT/SAT prep courses and various workshops are available to all alumni. Workshops assist with every element of applying to college, from early planning to the application process and financial aid.  Guided college trips and Program sponsored receptions with college representatives expose our alumni to a variety of schools, enabling them to form their own impressions. Career goal assessments and vocational information are also integral to the Program’s success. Paid internships are offered through the summer internship program, providing alumni with the chance to work with New York’s finest non-profits.

BwCCS families are presented with resources to support their children’s social and academic development in middle school, high school and beyond. Parents are provided with workshops on high school and college selection, financial aid & scholarship information and general support related to parenting issues.

OUR COMMUNITY

The students of Beginning with Children Charter School, whether age six or sixteen, are always our children. We are committed to helping our students and graduates grow into happy, healthy and successful young adults. The Alumni Program's structure and environment continues to strengthen the existing bond between the alumni, their families and the Beginning with Children community.
