MISSION
At the Beginning with Children Foundation, the students at both of our charter schools, whether age six or sixteen, are ‘always our children.' The BwCF schools – Beginning with Children Charter School (BwCCS) and Community Partnership Charter School (CPCS) – believe we have a responsibility to help our graduates grow into happy, healthy, and successful lifelong learners. Our mission is to ensure that the individualized attention and encouragement our students receive, remains available to them as they grow into young adults and encounter new life challenges. The goal of the Alumni Program is to provide middle school students, graduates, and parents with academic, social, and personal support to enhance their middle school, high school, and post high school experiences.
WHAT WE DO
The Alumni Program supports the middle school students with academic endeavors, high school selection strategies and social development skills. Specifically, the students receive academic tutoring, test preparation, and personalized advisement in applying to high-achieving and specialized high schools. Our goal for our middle school students is to broaden their horizons beyond high school. Collaborations with local colleges and universities encourage our middle school students to explore a wide range of future possibilities.
High school and post high school alumni are provided with academic advisement, goal assessment strategies, academic tutoring and social/emotional support systems. Intensive prep courses such as PSAT/SAT, and workshops are also available. Workshops assist with all elements of applying to college, from early planning to applications to financial aid. With the aid of guided college trips and program sponsored receptions with college representatives, our alumni are exposed to different types of schools and asked to form their own impressions. Career goal assessments and career vocational information are also integral to the Program's success. Paid summer internships are offered through the summer internship program, offering alumni the chance to work for some of New York 's finest non-profits. Alternative academic supports and tutoring are also available.
Parents are presented with resources to support their children's social and academic development in middle school, high school and post high school years. Parents are provided with workshops on high school and college selection, financial aid/scholarship information and general support related to parenting issues.
OUR COMMUNITY
The students of Beginning with Children Charter School , whether age six or sixteen, are always our children. We are committed to helping our students and graduates grow into happy, healthy and successful young adults. The Alumni Program is committed to creating a structure and environment that continues to strengthen the existing bond between the alumni, their families, and the BwCF community.
